I get that you mainly offer a bespoke service, but can I also hire ‘off-the-peg’ packages?

Of course. We at Twisted Audio delight in designing systems especially for our customers, but we also recognise that it can be helpful to have a menu of packages to choose from. I don’t have a clue what equipment I need. Can you help?

We certainly can. Our team love talking about sound and lighting equipment, so we’d be delighted to go through the particulars of your event with you and help you hire what you need. If your budget is limited, we’ll recommend equipment which sounds and looks fantastic and fits within your costings.

My budget is pretty small and Twisted Audio sound like a high-end outfit. Should I still call you?

Yes, you should. We know the sound and lighting business inside out, so if Twisted Audio can’t bag you a great deal, nobody can. Our speciality is scalable systems, so we’ll design an installation that’s within your current budget but which can be expanded with ease when further funds become available. That way we’ll save you money, because you won’t have to start from scratch when you’re ready for a more extensive set-up.

Which parts of the country do you cover?

Our convenient East Anglian location means that we’re perfectly placed to travel throughout the UK, and we frequently do! We’ve installed sound systems in clubs and for festivals in all parts of the country. Whenever you need a sound and lighting company guaranteed to be in the right place at the right time, we’re it.

What about safety?

Twisted Audio is led by Barry Williams, who has more than twenty years of experience supplying sound, light and AV services to the public and the entertainment industry. He knows exactly what it takes to keep your guests safe and the equipment functioning as it should, and he’ll make sure you do, too. And all of our equipment is PAT tested and maintained to ensure the highest standards of safety and performance.

Do you offer training?

When you hire equipment from Twisted Audio, you’re also hiring our expertise. Our friendly team always gives full training on the use of our equipment, so you can be confident of getting the best from your hire, whether it’s a full dance sound system or a digital music player for a family party. Besides, we’re only a phone call away if you have questions or concerns: no problem is too trivial to warrant our help.

Do I need to take out insurance when I hire your equipment?

Insurance isn’t always necessary when you hire our equipment, and may even already be covered by your home insurance policy. But we think it’s a good idea, just in case anything untoward happens to the equipment while it’s in your charge. When you’ve decided what to hire, we’ll advise you if you need extra cover.

Can I take your equipment out of the country?

If you’ve hired equipment from Twisted Audio and you want to take it out of the UK, you’ll need to tell us where you’re planning to go and get our permission in writing. We’ll also require an additional deposit from you, and any costs incurred in getting the equipment through customs or from other authorities are entirely yours to bear. If you do want to take our equipment to another country, make sure you’re completely familiar with our terms and conditions.

Which brands do you stock?

We believe in substance and style, so our inventory includes only those brands with a proven track record of looking great and sounding amazing. That’s why we work with Void Acoustics for loudspeakers, Powersoft for amplifiers and Pioneer and Technics for DJ equipment. What happens if I want to keep the equipment for longer than I originally thought?

This might be because your plans have changed at the last minute, or because you’ve fallen in love with our equipment and don’t feel ready to give it back. Either way, Twisted Audio understand the need for flexibility, so if you want to extend your hire period we’ll be happy to help. Call us when you know you’ll need to keep the equipment past its return date and we’ll work out the appropriate pricing.

What’s all this I hear about needing a licence for a radio mic?

The radio microphones we stock operate on two channels. The first, channel 70, is free to air, and this is the one we recommend using for smaller occasions. However, if you’re planning a larger event such as a festival, you’ll need a mic tuned to channel 38, which does require a licence. Although obtaining a licence for the use of one of our radio mics is your responsibility, we can advise you on how to get started.

Do you offer service and repair contracts?

Because we recognise that your profit margin depends on getting the maximum uptime from your equipment, Twisted Audio offer a range of maintenance and emergency response contracts. You should consider one of these if you’d like to make your cashflow more predictable, if you would rather a trusted third party took charge of your maintenance issues, or if you want access to a friendly, knowledgeable source of help around the clock.
